Calculate the Cost of College
The College Board’s Net Price Calculator is a tool that students and their parents can use to estimate their “out-of-pocket” costs to attend a particular college or university.
To estimate the net cost at a particular institution, the Net Price Calculator first looks at the college’s cost of attendance, which includes tuition and fees, room and board, books and supplies, transportation and personal expenses.
Then, using financial data the student enters into the calculator, the NPC estimates the amount that the student’s family would be expected to contribute to pay for college expenses.
Finally, the Net Price Calculator evaluates the student’s eligibility for financial aid (need based and non-need based) at that specific college or university by matching their financial and personal characteristics to the criteria the college uses to determine financial-aid awards.
